Born on 18 October 1954 in the village of Kosuta, the Vileika district, the Minsk region. Belarusian.

In 1981 graduated from Belаrusian State University.

From 1972 till 1982 — service in the Armed Forces.

Since 1982 — a judge, Chairman of the district court of Buda-Koshelevo of the Gomel region, a judge of the Gomel regional court. In 1989 elected Chairman of the Gomel regional court. In January 1998 appointed to be the first Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. Since 1999 — first Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus. 

In 2003 conferred with the title of honour "The Meritaed Lawyer of the Republic of Belarus". 

In November 2004 appointed Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus and entitled with the State Counsellor of Justice of the 2 class.

On 8 February 2008 appointed Judge and Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus in accordance with Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus № 71.
